We look back on a long tradition of working with leather. Our beginnings are in the automotive industry, but now we specialize in crafting premium leather accessories. Many European premium brands have already placed their trust in our quality and precise workmanship of high-quality leather. Not only are we known for our corporate values, which include basic virtues such as quality, accuracy and reliability. We live the tradition of authentic, original craftsmanship. Our company calls the stunning landscapes of Northern Portugal home. This is where we unleash our creativity and regain our focus on what matters to us: our roots.

Market demands are also based on future consumer demands. Consequently, sustainability is a key issue for us. This includes traceability of the origin of the leather and the intelligent use of resources with minimal environmental impact. In detail: fewer cuttings (waste), reduced chemicals and lower carbon footprint thanks to reduced use of water and electricity.

Our Product

Our Product

1. Sample creation

During the design process, the product requirements in relation to functionality are brought in line with the customer’s expectations in terms of colours, materials and size. Sometimes work is also carried out based on existing templates.

2. During sample creation

It becomes clear whether the planned product is suitable for production. Non-viable processes are improved and optimised in consultation with the customer. Also in relation to materials, component parts or design, a recommendation is made following thorough examination and an optimal solution is fine-tuned in cooperation with the customer.

3. Preparation for production

Based on the prepared technical data sheets and patterns, the materials are ordered and production is planned.

1. Leather inspection

The hides are inspected according to specific criteria such as strength and appearance.

2. Leather processing

The leather is cut by hand, with the aid of templates, or by machine using punch templates. The leather is then processed. For example, one part of the leather can be made thinner in specific places by ‘splitting’ the leather (homogeneous wearing). The edges of the leather parts may also be sharpened in order to subsequently produce a ‘weft’ there.

3. Stitching

The stitching is based on the particular product. A production line typically has 12 to 20 employees and 25 to 30 machines.

4. Final check

A thorough final check is carried out on each individual product before the product is passed on to logistics.

People have been working with leather for thousands of years. We treat this precious material with the respect it deserves.

The environment is extremely important to us. We therefore source our leather exclusively from selected experts with a long tradition in tanning. The golden rule is to treat the leather only as much as is absolutely necessary to preserve the originality of the pure natural product. In addition to the traditional methods employed by tanneries, innovative process techniques such as olive leaf tanning are also used. As part of this natural process, olive leaves are processed into a tanning agent.

Market demands are also based on future consumer demands. Consequently, sustainability is a key issue for us. This includes traceability of the origin of the leather and the intelligent use of resources with minimal environmental impact. OUR JOURNEY

We grew up with the production of leather seat covers for the automotive industry. An industry that has taught us both precision and humility. To keep pace in this industry, one cannot afford to make mistakes. It is vital to deliver continuously high quality.

Nosco now specialises in leather accessories and, with this, has become more creative and more flexible. Our products have become smaller, but the challenges are now greater. This is the standard we set ourselves each and every day for our customers day.

OUR JOURNEY

OUR JOURNEY

Nosco is based to the northeast of Porto in the village of Arcos de Valdevez. Here, in the inspiring serenity, lies the modern Nosco building which was constructed in 2018. Undisturbed, we can give free rein to creativity and create true artisan values.

The textile industry in northern Portugal is extremely popular and highly regarded.

Our employees are our soul. They have a wealth of experience in the production of leather products. With a strong local tradition of textile and leather production, knowledge has been passed down from generation to generation.

We also constantly strive to make our employees happy and involve them in business activities, take their needs seriously and implement their requests and suggestions into our daily work.

We are not just located in the midst of nature, we also pay close attention to it. Our company produces no emissions and only a small amount of waste which is disposed of properly. Leather is used in full, and even the leftover parts are used for testing and for creative work.

We are not an industrial company. We are a manufacturing company.

We are convinced that the demands we set ourselves must exceed those set by our customers. Accordingly, we work hard every day to optimise our processes and never rest on our laurels.

Making our customers happy is not our goal, but our fundamental approach. With creativity and flexibility, we advise our customers in terms of design, materials and processing. We offer individual advice based on our practical experience and we always relish a challenge. The more challenging the order, the more interesting it is for us.
